After a renovation at Damen Ship Repair Vlissingen the freezer stern trawler SCH -72 Frank Bonefaas Cornelis Vrolijk’s Visserij Maatschappij of IJmuiden returned back into her home. In the past period, the nearly 120-meter stern trawler from 1993 was completely stripped and rebuilt. The freezer was renewed, where the refrigerant freon was replaced by natural refrigerants NH3/CO2. The trawler meets the new EU environmental requirements that will apply from 2015.
In this project Minks Kunststoftechniek installed more than a kilometer of plastic piping in diameters from Ø 20 mm to 355 mm. This includes the following systems: RSW ( Refrigerated Sea Water ) system, PE piping in the fish tanks, black and gray water drainage system, deck wash system and the hot and cold water system.
We also prefabricated some skids ( see photo ) in IJmuiden in our workshop. Due to this prefabrication, we have saved time and money for our customer during the dry dock period for this project. The Skids were transported from IJmuiden and placed in its entirety in the ship, the rest of the pipe is then connected at the shipyard in Vlissingen.
We have made special flanges and washers for all flange connections in the fish tanks, which ensure that the bolts are protected and therefore the fresh fish cannot be damaged.
At this moment the freezer trawler will IJmuiden in the ready for her first voyage after the renovation. After the SCH -81 Carolien and SCH -123 Zealand, the SCH -72 Frank Bonefaasis the third trawler Cornelis Vrolijk which has been thoroughly renovated.
We wish our customer a safe journey!
