It is also perfectly possible to use plastics for pipework that operates below 0°C.

In particular for work on ships or offshore, we recommend a welded system rather than a glued one, because of the vibrations that may be present and the internal movements in shipping/offshore situations.
The plastic used for this is polyethylene (PE), which can be used down to -50°C.
